3d reconstruction from photographs

Martin Eriksson and I developed a method for creating a 3d model of objects photographed from a single point of view, but illuminated from different directions. The benefit of this technique is that it gives very high resolution models. Especially the surface texture is captured well. A drawback is that only surfaces seen from the camera can be modeled. A camera and a movable light are the only equipment necessary. Here are the results on the three objects we tried it on:
